| Guest Conductor - Middle or High School Honor Bands Adjudicator - Middle or High School Band/Orchestra Festivals Marching Band Festivals and Contests Adjudicator for Solo and Ensemble Festivals My major instrument is flute but I am also comfortable evaluating young players on several other instruments as well as mixed instrument ensembles. Some school districts have utilized my services by having me judge an eclectic mix of entries which could not be accommodated in the scheduled room for their particular instrument. Clinician for Middle and High School Bands One of the most beneficial and productive services that I can provide is to visit a band program prior to their adjudicated festival. These sessions usually last approximately two hours and involve my listening to a run through of at least one of their festival selections. After hearing the band, I serve as a rehearsal clinician in order to address areas for improvement. I model practical and effective rehearsal strategies which lead the students to improved performance. The session ends with a private conference with the teacher to answer any questions and to discuss specific ideas for future rehearsals. Depending on the distance between schools, two or three clinic sessions can be scheduled in a single day. Some directors have also opted to bring their bands in for an evening session. |
